4th Gup Blue Belt Testing Requirements
Eligibility for promotion to the rank of 3rd Gup begins after 20 hrs of training and is at the discretion of the instructor.
Verbal Requirements
- Theory of Power, Part 2
- Mass
- Body weight adds to the delivered energy provided all elements of theory of power are observed.
- Speed
- The acceleration of the fist or foot does not damage a target. It is the sudden stop that occurs when the fist hits its target that imparts energy. Mass and time to target are crucial.
- Speed and Reflex
- Any technique delivered faster than an opponent's reaction time will strike its target without being blocked.
- Speed and Strenght
- Application of pleiometric principles (strength and speed training) greatly enhance the energy delivered to a target.

- Learning
- Your quest for knowledge must be pushing you to learn at any time, place and under any conditions.
- Sacrifice
- The payment of dues cannot replace personal involvement in areas requested by your Instructor. Learn to give back to your communtiy by developing volunteer time at the Do-Jang.
- Cross-Training
- Cross training has to do with training your body in weight lifting, and other forms of exercise. Your Instructor will be your guide in these matters.
- Traditions
- Senior students should always set the exmple in work around the Do-Jang. This will develop beautiful traditions of student involvement. This helps the Instructor concentrate on teaching.
- Learning
- Definition of Joong-Gun
- Joong-Gun is named after the patriot Ahn Joong-Gun who assassinated Hiro-Bumi Ito, the first Japanese governer-general of Korea, known as the man who played the leading role in the Korea-Japan merger. There are 32 movements in this pattern to represent Mr. Ahn's age when he was executed at Lui-Shung prison (1910).
